Story Massage
Story Massage is a method of storytelling using both - words and touch; combining the benefits of positive touch with the creativity of storytelling.
When telling the story, we can use existing ones or create our own.
Ten simple massage strokes form the basis of the programme. Each stroke has a name and easy to recognise symbol making it fully accessible for all ages and abilities. It can be shared as a child to child or parent to child activity. It is simple to learn and can be enjoyed almost anywhere and at any time.
Besides helping a child keep calm, story massage is also used to help children focus, connect with each other, prevent a meltdown, deal with little and the big transitions, life changes, or even help with healing from trauma.
After years of learning and experience I am ready to slow down on clinical practice and start sharing my skills and knowledge with others, especially the little ones. I would suggest booking three story massage workshops to get a really good feel of how this program works and the benefits the children gain from each session. Our first workshop is an introduction to massage, including the importance of safe touch, aroma and sound, chakra colouring and explanation, additionally we work in conjunction with a didgeridoo sound therapist, which can be booked as a special wellbeing package. The children will learn the history of the didgeridoo after benefiting from its healing sound at the end of every workshop.
From my experience after these three sessions I suggest every school, club, or organisation could add this to the children's curriculum program on a monthly basis. After that we can tailor all future sessions to the groups needs making each session bespoke to each groups needs.
Here are some fabulous testimonials from Ansiao art club and the Suti festival along with some from happy parents.
